Can this special item ship from Japan? Four checks before purchase
Check warehouse, export, carrier and destination conditions before shipping gas appliances, dehumidifiers, oil, alcohol, swords, long items, audio equipment or consoles from Japan.
●Quick answer
Special items cannot be labelled simply shippable or prohibited. Confirm separately whether the store will accept the order, the JChere warehouse can receive it, Japanese export and a current carrier route accept it, and the destination permits import. Fuel residue, flammable liquids, alcohol, swords, excessive length, strong magnets and lithium batteries trigger different controls.
Can special items be forwarded from Japan?
Start by checking whether the item involves danger, pressure, fuel, blades, chemicals or oversized dimensions.
- Gas, fuel, chemical liquid, strong magnetism, pressure can
- Blades, tools, hazardous parts, equipment needing special permits
- Oversized, overlength, overweight, or complex to install
The most common issue with special items is not a total ban, but not having enough information to judge. The more complete the product page and specifications, the faster the decision.

Overview
This guide groups product types that generate recurring real-world questions for JChere. Send the item URL, exact model, quantity, destination and composition or battery data before purchase. A listed example is not a shipping guarantee.
Gas stoves, water heaters and dehumidifiers
Used gas equipment can retain residue even without a cylinder. A dehumidifier also requires refrigerant, compressor, battery and dimension checks. Warehouse receipt does not mean an air or sea carrier will accept it.
- Provide exact model and new or used condition.
- Confirm residue, refrigerant type and original packaging.
- Check single-piece weight, longest side and crating for large appliances.
Engine oil and alcoholic drinks
Oil may be controlled as a flammable liquid, chemical or carrier-restricted item. Sake and whisky add alcohol percentage, volume, bottle count, packaging and destination age, tax and permit rules.
- Provide volume, composition or SDS, alcohol percentage, bottle count and destination.
- Assess leak, shock and consolidation risk for glass.
- A general liquid route does not automatically accept oil or alcohol.
Japanese swords, fishing rods and audio equipment
Swords and replicas can require Japanese export evidence and compliance with destination weapons law. Fishing rods are often limited by packed length. Speakers can trigger magnetism, weight and crating checks.
- Declare sword material, blade length, registration and evidence accurately.
- Measure a rod's packed longest side, not only its weight.
- Confirm speaker magnetism, unit weight and carton dimensions.
Switch, PlayStation, headphones and consoles
A console, controller and wireless headphones may each contain batteries. Installed batteries, spares and power banks follow different rules, so list every battery-containing component.
- Confirm quantity and Wh for console, controllers, charging cases and spares.
- Damaged, swollen, leaking, recalled or unidentified batteries are normally unacceptable.
- Use the dedicated lithium-battery guide for details.
